Traffic curbs announced on city road

SHILLONG, April 2: Traffic restrictions will be enforced on the Lad Umsaw-Mawsiatkhnam road due to ongoing construction, limiting vehicle movement during specific hours.
The decision was taken in a meeting on Wednesday, attended by village elders from Nongkohlew, Mawsiatkhnam and Mawtawar, along with officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), Mawlai Block officers, and traffic authorities.
As per the resolution, the road will remain open from 5 am to 9:30 am to facilitate students commuting to school.
Vehicle movement will be restricted from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, after which the road will reopen from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm for students returning home. It will then be closed again from 4:30 pm onwards until construction work concludes for the day.
The Rangbah Shnong of Mawsiatkhnam has urged residents to cooperate with the temporary restrictions, adding that these measures are necessary for the timely and successful completion of the road project.
