CM unveils digital platform to revamp disaster relief

SHILLONG, April 4: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday launched the Disaster and Relief Monitoring System (DRMS), a digital platform aimed at improving the efficiency of disaster reporting, relief processing and fund disbursement across Meghalaya.
The launch event, which was held in the Cabinet Room, was attended by senior government officials, deputy commissioners and representatives from key departments.
In his address, Conrad emphasised the importance of a rapid, transparent and accountable relief system to support communities affected by disasters.
“In times of crisis, every moment matters. The DRMS will ensure that relief reaches affected communities without delays or bureaucratic hurdles. This initiative marks a major step towards a fully digital and paperless disaster response system for Meghalaya,” he said.
Developed by the Revenue & Disaster Management Department in collaboration with NIC Meghalaya, the DRMS will serve as the mandatory platform for handling all relief-related applications under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
Announcing the development on social media, the chief minister said, “Launched the Disaster and Relief Monitoring System (DRMS) of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department aimed at streamlining disaster reporting, relief processing, and fund disbursement in the state. This will ensure a transparent, accountable, and efficient system and ensure timely relief to the people.”
