Saleng slams Centre over atrocities against Christian people

SHILLONG, April 14: Congress Lok Sabha member from Tura, Saleng A Sangma has criticised the BJP-led NDA government for increasing atrocities against minorities in the country.
He stated that persecution of Christians is a serious issue and that over two incidents of violence against Christians occur daily.
Sangma cited a study – Violence Monitor Report 2025, which highlighted 65 cases of violence against Christians in January,  65 in February, and 76 in March, totaling around 196 till April.
He also cited the destruction of many churches in Manipur.
Sangma accused the BJP-led government of destroying the country’s rich diversity and called for opposition to any moves aimed at oppressing minorities. He urged the nation to unite against such actions.
