Pongtung clinch victory over Sohra

Sohra, April 17: In a rain-affected opening match of the (L) Benjamin Diengdohr Memorial U-16 Girls Inter-School cum Cluster Cricket Tournament 2025, Pongtung Cluster registered a hard-fought 13-run win over Sohra Cluster in a 10-over-a-side contest.
Due to a wet outfield, the match was reduced to just 10 overs per innings. Sohra Cluster won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Pongtung Cluster managed to post a modest total of 39 for 4 in their allotted 10 overs, with Balaaihun Khongmiur anchoring the innings with a crucial 14 runs off 15 deliveries.
Lawanjanai Synnah was the pick of the bowlers for Sohra, claiming an impressive 3 wickets for just 8 runs in her 3-over spell.
In response, Sohra Cluster struggled to find momentum and were restricted to 26 for 6 in their 10 overs. Inroihame L Nonglait was the top scorer for the side with 10 runs off 12 balls, while Saramanbha Khongsit turned in a brilliant bowling performance for Pongtung, taking 2 wickets for just 2 runs in her 3 overs.
With a disciplined bowling effort and tight fielding, Pongtung Cluster secured a 13-run victory. Balaaihun Khongmiur was named Player of the Match for her valuable contribution with the bat.As the competition progresses, more thrilling encounters are expected.
