SHILLONG, April 24: The Central Puja Committee (CPC), Meghalaya, has strongly condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists and left several others injured.
Describing the act as “heinous” and “gruesome”, the CPC has demanded immediate and decisive action against those responsible.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the CPC expressed sorrow over the targeted killing of civilians, many of whom had travelled to the region for leisure and pilgrimage. “We are shocked and pained by the senseless loss of innocent lives. Such acts of terror have no place in a civilised society,” the statement read.
Urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take “stern action,” the CPC called on the Centre to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice without delay.
“We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured in this horrific act of violence,” the CPC said.
Meanwhile, the Police Bazar Welfare Society also expressed grief over the tragedy, calling it a grave blow to humanity.
“This heinous act of violence is not only a grave tragedy but a black spot on the civilisation and a heartbreaking moment for the entire nation. Such acts of terror have no place in a civilised society and must be condemned by one and all in the strongest terms,” it said.
It also extended prayers for the bereaved families.
