TURA, April 30: The residents of Gomaijhora and its adjoining villages in West Garo Hills have raised serious concerns over the poor mobile network services, urging district authorities to take immediate action.
In a complaint letter issued to the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, an NGO called Fight Against Corruption highlighted the persistent network disruption caused by a faulty mobile tower (ID No. SLLA9035) that has remained non-operational for over a month.
According to the letter, repeated calls to the concerned teleco’s customer support yielded no resolution. “Despite assurances from the service provider to send technicians, the tower remains inoperative,” the complaint stated, adding that the issue has significantly affected mobile connectivity and internet access in the area.
The villagers, particularly students preparing for competitive exams, are reportedly suffering the most due to the disruption in online education.
The NGO also mentioned their attempt to seek intervention from the Infra Executive Engineers at Tura and Shillong, but to no avail. As a result, the villagers have now requested the district administration to remove the existing tower.
