NONGPOH, May 3: The Seng Longkmie (women’s organisation) of Umlyngkdait village marked a significant milestone on Saturday with the inauguration of its office building, constructed under the Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP) for 2023-24 and 2024-25, at Rs 4 lakh.
The new office was inaugurated by Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem, in the presence of village headman NS Makdoh, Seng Longkmie president S. Shongwan, and other village leaders and members of the organisation.
Speaking at the event, Syiem commended the dedication of the Seng Longkmie in ensuring the successful completion of the project.
He said that government schemes, whether under SRWP or other departmental initiatives, are ultimately meant to serve the public. “With the establishment of this new office building, the Seng Longkmie Umlyngkdait will now be better equipped to carry out a wide range of activities. It will serve not just the women of the village, but the broader community as well,” Syiem said.
