MAWKYRWAT, May 6: Residents of 25 Mile and Rilang village under Ranikor Civil Sub-Division, South West Khasi Hills, on Tuesday stormed the office of the Feedback Energy Distribution Company Limited (FEDCO) at Pamdaba village, Ranikor, demanding immediate restoration of electricity in the two villages.
The people of the two villages took the drastic step due to the failure of the office to restore power in both the villages, because of which they had to live in the darkness for more than two weeks despite the fact that the villagers have brought the matter to their attention many times.
However, the residents of both the villages were left in shock after reaching the FEDCO Office as they found that there were no employees at the office.
Sordar of 25 Mile Brabis Wahlang and secretary of Rilang village Saidot Dkhar said that the lack of manpower at the office clearly shows why FEDCO had failed to even response to their complaints even after two weeks.
In view of this, the villagers demanded that FEDCO should ensure enough manpower at the office and promptly restore the electricity in both the villages which has caused the locals lots of problems, especially to students.
Wahlang and Dkhar also threatened to close down the office if FEDCO failed to respond to their grievances.
