‘Congress MLA not involved in anti-party activities’
UMSNING: Just days after its legislator Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh, was accused of being involved in anti-party activities, the Umsning Block Congress Committee (UBCC) has rubbished all the allegations and strongly condemned the move by some party leaders to tarnish the image of the Congress legislator.
In a press note signed by UBCC working president Dalness Pale, president of Umsning Congress Youth wing Watson Kharkrang, District Congress Mahila Committee president Obilian Kharbhih and president of Umsning Mahila Congress Dexstella Nongbsap, the UBCC said it firmly believes that the legislator had supported the official candidate of the Congress in the recent district council election, since it was he who had chaired a meeting of the party on January 29, 2014, that introduced Dipul Ryntathiang as the official candidate of the Congress.
The UBCC claimed that it was Congress higher ups who were responsible for the party’s defeat in the district council polls since the MPCC had denied the ticket to the consensus candidate, who fought as an Independent and won the election.
“UBCC Mahila president Aidalin Syiemlieh had been working alone without consulting other Mahila office bearers to send incorrect and false news reports to the media to tarnish the image of Dr. Lyngdoh,” the UBCC leaders said.
They also said that the allegation that the MLA is involved in anti-party activities is only a personal vendetta by some leaders to damage the reputation of Dr. Lyngdoh, and urged the MPCC to look into the matter seriously and to check the credentials of the opportunists since their actions might mislead the general public.
Meanwhile, the Umsning BCC invited all party workers to work dedicatedly for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled on April 9 to ensure victory for the official candidate of the Congress party.
