SHILLONG, May 12: The state government has partially modified its earlier notification to designate the first floor (at Khyndai Lad road level) of the MUDA Parking Lot as the new Vending Zone.
Earlier, it had notified the ground floor of the MUDA Parking Lot under Zone 2 as a Vending Zone.
This notification comes in compliance with an order issued by the High Court of Meghalaya in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), which directed the state government to clearly demarcate areas where street vending is permitted. In response to the directive, the Urban Affairs Department had previously notified certain areas across Khyndai Lad as Vending Zones in 2024.
