TURA, May 17: A grand Tiranga Yatra was held in Tura on Saturday to honour the bravery and sacrifice of Indian armed forces and security personnel.
The event, organised by Tura MDC and state BJP vice president Bernard N. Marak, witnessed enthusiastic participation from locals, students and educational institutes from across West Garo Hills, showcasing a strong spirit of patriotism and solidarity.
Braving the inclement weather, participants marched through the streets of Tura waving the National Flag in a solemn tribute to the nation’s defenders.
The rally began at the District Auditorium and passed through key areas including Tura Market, Hawakhana, and Ringre, before returning to the starting point.
In his address, Marak paid rich homage to the unwavering courage of the Indian armed forces, including paramilitary forces, BSF, CRPF and local police, who continue to protect the country against terrorism and subversive forces. “India has never bowed to terrorism, and this is because of the selfless service of our brave men and women in uniform,” he stated.
A special commemoration and interfaith prayer followed the rally, held in memory of those who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The event concluded with a collective message of national pride and unity.
