Tura, May 21: In a novel move, the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) today marked ‘Anti Terrorism Day’ by donating blood in several Civil Hospitals across the state.
MPYC members donated blood in the Shillong, Tura and Williamnagar Civil Hospitals in what they termed was an act to bring hope, service and life.
The day marks the death of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who was killed in an act of terrorism on May 21, 1991.
“His life and sacrifice remind us of the high cost we pay when violence is allowed to replace dialogue. We want to take a different path by saying that while terror takes lives; we will work to save them. While hatred tries to divide us, we will come together in compassion. Each unit of blood donated today is a symbol of resistance – not with weapons, but with humanity,” said Timjim Momin, president of MPYC.
