EKH crowned overall champions at Inter School Athletics Meet

Shillong, May 22: East Khasi Hills emerged as the overall champions at the State-Level Inter School Athletic Meet 2025, which concluded on Thursday at the SAI Centre, NEHU campus.
Over the course of the three-day event, East Khasi Hills dominated the competition, securing a total of 23 gold, 11 silver, and 8 bronze medals.
In addition to clinching the overall title, they were also crowned champions in both the boys’ and girls’ team categories.
In the girls’ category, East Khasi Hills led with 13 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze medals. Their boys’ team also performed impressively, winning 10 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals. North Garo Hills finished as runners-up in the girls’ division, while East Jaintia Hills claimed second place in the boys’ category.
North Garo Hills secured second place in the overall medal tally with 6 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze medals. East Jaintia Hills followed closely, placing third overall with 6 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
The athletic meet was jointly organized by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Meghalaya Athletics Association.
Education Minister, Rakkam A Sangma attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest.
It may be mention that 780 athletes competing across 48 disciplines took part in the three sporting event.
The resounding success of the State-Level Inter School Athletic Meet 2025 not only highlighted the exceptional talent nurtured across districts of Meghalaya but also reaffirmed the growing importance of grassroots sports development in the state. With 780 young athletes competing in 48 disciplines, the event was a celebration of determination, discipline, and sportsmanship. East Khasi Hills’ commanding performance, backed by strong showings in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, sets a new benchmark for excellence in school-level athletics.
