SHILLONG: The CSWO has urged Chief Secretary to take necessary action to implement the direction of the Supreme Court to make production and marketing of adulterated milk, which is injurious to human consumption, an offence punishable with life imprisonment.

In a recent letter addressed to the Chie Secretary , the CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said that a case had been registered by CSWO in the office of Meghalaya DGP who had given instructions to the CID to take up the matter and to examine whether a criminal case is made out.

The CID has instead sought the instructions of the law department in this matter, Kharshiing said.

“We had supported enough evidence which should have been taken cognizance as adulteration of children’s food should have been a priority to the government”, Kharshiing said, seeking the Chief Secretary’s intervention on the matter.
