SHILLONG: The proposal of the Government to appoint twenty-five candidates to the post of Government LP teachers in place of 246 teachers whose services were terminated has been slammed by the candidates whose names have appeared in the waiting list. The candidates have also questioned the report of the High Level Scrutiny Committee on the Education scam.

“We want to know the reason for appointing 25 teachers and sacking others,” the candidates demanded on Tuesday.

The Directorate of School Education and Literacy had issued termination letters to as many as 246 teachers who were reported to have been appointed ‘illegally’.

However, only 25 candidates will be appointed in the vacancies arising out of the termination of 246 teachers.

The affected candidates also sought the report of the High Level Scrutiny Committee.

It may be recalled that the names of five ‘tainted’ LP school teachers under Shillong Centre as mentioned in the CBI report do not figure in the final list prepared by the High Level Scrutiny Committee which had further examined the anomalies in the appointment of school teachers.
