Death anniv
The Gitanjali Dance Academy in collaboration with NEZCC, Dimapur Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is observing the 70th death anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindra Nath Tagore at 6pm on Monday at the Bangiya Sahitya Parisad Hall, Jail Road.
Tree plantation
The Meghalaya Youth Foundation, in collaboration with the locals of Nongkrem village, Iewpomtiah, will conduct a tree plantation drive at Iewpomtiah on August 6 from 10 am onwards.
Concert
The Council of the Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI) will organise a musical concert to raise fund for Silver Jubilee celebration of the student ministry in Shillong (Shillong Tyrannus Hall) at U Soso Tham auditorium at 4pm on Sunday.
Graduation Day
The Synod College will organise a Graduation Day at Dinam Hall, Jaiaw at 1pm on Saturday in honour of those who passed the degree examination in 2011. The function will be attended by KN Kumar, a senior State government official, as the chief guest.
New body
The general meeting of the Khasi Hills Tourist Taxi Association held on August 4 at Hotel Elgin Hall elected new office bearers. The new office-bearers are — Arnold M Lanong (president), Bhaskar Deb (vice-president), Unish Khan (general secretary), Rahul Limbu (joint secretary), Winstar M Syiem (line secretary), Raju S Mattu and Umesh Prasad Sah (both treasurer) and Deeno Thangkhiew (auditor).
Meeting
The general meeting of the SAS II and III Employees will be held at the office of the DAO, East Khasi Hills, Shillong at 11am on August 13.
Condolence
The Western Youth Welfare Organisation (WYWO) has condoled the death of six persons in the tragic accident at Mawmaram recently. The organisation extended its condolences to the bereaved families.
