Two-day book exhibition in city

 Shillong: A two-day book exhibition-cum-sale, hosted by the Khasi Publishers’ Allied Society (KPAS) Shillong, got under way at Khasi National durbar Hall, Mawkhar here on Friday.

The exhibition, which was inaugurated by the Deputy Director Higher and Technical Education B N Lamare, attracted book lovers from every nook and corner of the city on the first day.

Several books were on display including those written by the local authors on the Khasi society, fictions etc.

A book The Oral Discourse in Khasi Folk Narrative authored by Esther Syiem, Professor of the English Department, NEHU was released by SS Majaw, a lecturer of Synod College.

The KPAS also organized an inter-school debate competition which saw the participation of five schools of the city namely St Joseph Higher Secondary School, St Dominic Higher Secondary School, Mawkhar Christian Higher Secondary School, Seng Khasi Higher Secondary School and Nora Evelyn Secondary School.

“I love reading books. It really gives you company when you are alone”, said a middle-aged lady after visiting the stalls.
