Community-wide cleaning drive held ahead of World Env Day

SHILLONG, June 3: The Executive Committee of Dorbar Shnong Raid Sawkur Nongkseh, in collaboration with members of the Village Defence Party (VDP), Village Employment Council (VEC), Nongkseh Taxi Owners and Drivers Association, and local fruit vendors, recently took part in a community-wide cleaning drive in the run-up to World Environment Day celebrations.
The initiative focused on cleaning various public spaces within the locality, including Lew Kynton, the fruit market, the taxi stand, nearby water bodies, public cloth-washing areas, as well as drains and roads.
The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from all involved. Staff from the Soil and Water Conservation Department and the BDO Mylliem C&RD Office also joined the effort, lending their support to the cause.
Meanwhile, the Executive Committee of the Dorbar Shnong expressed its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
It also emphasised the importance of continued collaboration among community groups on matters that impact the well-being of the locality.
The committee has also urged all residents to take responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of their surroundings and to support future environmental efforts.
