State committee addresses concerns of Ri-Bhoi locals

NONGPOH, June 7: The State Level Public Grievances Committee (SLPGC) on Friday visited Ri-Bhoi district to engage with residents and hear their concerns, particularly those related to government services and administrative challenges.
Organised by the Ri-Bhoi district administration, the meeting was held at the District Library in Nongpoh and was participated by traditional village heads, self-help groups (SHGs), village employment councils (VECs), village organisations (VOs) and other community leaders representing villages under the Umsning, Umling, Jirang, Bhoirymbong and Mawhati Community & Rural Development blocks.
Officials from multiple government departments, including representatives from Health, PWD, PHE, Food Supply, BDOs, MePDCL and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary departments, were also part of the meeting.
SLPGC members present included Chairman PR Marak; Co-Chairmen AF Dkhar, D. Sawkmie and KR Marak; and vice chairpersons S. Makri, M. Wahlang, Y. Phawa, JQ Nongrum, Rona Khymdeit and R. Kurbah.
The programme was marked by active and enthusiastic participation from the public, who raised a wide range of issues and concerns. In response, departmental officials offered clarifications and shared steps being taken under their respective jurisdictions.
The SLPGC, meanwhile, appreciated the people of Ri-Bhoi for their involvement and willingness to voice their grievances in the interest of the district’s overall progress.
