TURA, June 9: A day old infant’s body was recovered by a garbage collecting truck of the Tura Municipal Board (TMB) on Monday morning when employees went about their normal duties near the Hawakhana locality here.
Following the recovery, the body was handed over to the Tura Police Station after which an inquiry took place. It was later found that the baby was born stillborn at the Tura Maternity and Child Hospital (TMCH) after which the father was asked to dispose of the body.
The father apparently dumped the infant’s body in the nearby garbage dump, later leading to its recovery.
Police sources informed that the mother was hospitalised following the delivery and is still recovering.
