SHILLONG: The Question Hour for the last few days has turned out to be a platform for raising questions concerning constituencies rather than seeking information on problems being faced by the State.
The Assembly Secretariat has circulated only limited questions which are not state specific.
Moreover,  many questions, which are a few in number, are answered and completed even before the expiry of full one hour.
At one point of time Jemino Mawthoh (UDP) has even clarified during the Question Hour that he was compelled to raise the issues concerning his Nongthymmai constituency.
It is the fear of Government not paying attention to the constituencies in terms of release of schemes which prompted the legislators to raise constituency specific issues.
“I have no other option than to highlight constituency specific questions as things are being selectively done”, Mawthoh said.
Some ministers also had a harrowing time as they had to answer to the questions of particular department throughout the Question Hour.
On Thursday, the PWD Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar had to reply to all the questions on road schemes except for a question on power dues during the Question Hour.
The Speaker even mentioned that the Minister was finding it difficult to open the file related to the answers due to too many questions.
“We can’t help, there were no questions from other departments”, the Speaker said in the Assembly.
