2G scam

New Delhi:  DMK leader A. Raja said Friday he is innocent and there is no evidence against him in the alleged irregularities in allocating 2G spectrum, adding the government did not defend the accusations well enough.
“Two things are very clear… there is no exchequer loss and there is no illegal wealth with me. Despite of that, people are saying there is a big scam,” he said.
“No evidence has come out against me,” he said.
He said government did not argue the case well enough at any of the forums.
“Had the 2G case been defended at all the forums, parliament and the court, the entire case would not have come up. The issues enumerated in CBI chargesheet or issues contemplated by the CAG report were not properly appraised by the government before the competent forums,” he said in an interview to Times Now.
He said an unsigned note was sent to PMO by the “corporate sector in telecom field”.
“It is unfortunate on the part of PMO or PM, that an unwritten note was appended with the letter from prime minister and sent to me before taking decision so that I may be apprised,” said Raja.
“I replied to the prime minister that the suggestions in the appended not is completely against the NTP 1999…” he added.
Raja, who was jailed on corruption charges in 2G spectrum allocation, is seeking re-election from Nilgiris Lok Sabha constituency. (IANS)
