Body found in Ri-Bhoi days after electrocution

NONGPOH, June 25: A decomposed body was discovered near an electric post at 17th Mile in Ri-Bhoi district on Tuesday morning.
During preliminary enquiry, it was found that the body was lying close to a downed electric conductor on the ground. The local electrical board was called in to examine the cause of the fallen wire. An inquest was subsequently conducted, which revealed that the cause of death was electrocution and that the death may have occurred one to two months ago.
Meanwhile, the body, following due legal formalities, was shifted to the morgue room of Nongpoh Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination and identification.
The deceased is described as a male, approximately 5 feet tall and aged between 30 to 35 years. He was wearing a white vest, black pants, a red belt and a green cotton shoulder bag. In this regard, the police have urged anyone with knowledge regarding the identity or address of the deceased to contact 9856084514.
