Aizawl: A retired IAS officer and vociferous campaigner against corruption M Lalmanzuala has decided to contest the coming Lok Sabha elections from the lone Mizoram seat.

Announcing his bold decision during a press conference at Aizawl Press Club on Monday, the former Mizoram chief secretary said the Aam Aadmi Party’s basic objective is to remove corruption from the administration and its leaders would abdicate the throne for the sake of fighting corruption.

He said such was after his own heart and this was the reason he would contest the elections on AAP ticket.

Lalmanzuala said if he gets elected, he would exert all his efforts for the good of Mizoram.

He believed that he would make a loud voice in the Parliament once he sits there.

He would use the MP local area development fund in the most meaningful way and also extract as many central funds as possible for the state development.

Lalmanzuala said he would file his nominations on Tuesday.

It may be recalled that Lalmanzuala, with like-minded activists, floated Mipui Tangrual Pawl (people united party) ahead of Mizoram state assembly elections in 2008.

He also contested from Aizawl North-II on independent ticket but lost the election. (UNI)
