SHILLONG, June 30: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, which includes Tura MP Saleng Sangma as a member, is conducting a review of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005, in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
So far, it has been found that there is a lack of periodical training and awareness sessions for Public Information Officers (PIOs) to prevent potential errors and delays in processing requests.
It was also found that citizens were unaware of their rights under the RTI Act or how to file a request.
Additionally, it was revealed that several public authorities remain understaffed, leading to slow processing of requests.
