SHILLONG, July 3: The elder brother of Indore resident Raja Raghuvanshi on Thursday said he believes the main accused Sonam, also the deceased’s wife, may have married her aide (Raj Kushwaha) while hiding here post the crime.
Sonam, her alleged boyfriend Raj Kushwaha, the three henchmen and three other co-accused are currently lodged in judicial custody.
“We have come to know that Meghalaya police have recovered two mangalsutras. One was gifted to Sonam as per tradition when she and Raja married on May 11. The second one may be related to Sonam and Kushwaha’s marriage. They might have married when she was hiding here,” Vipin told reporters.
Meanwhile, the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, presided over by DKK Mihsill, on Thursday extended the judicial custody of Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi by another 14 days.
The matter was taken up through video conferencing on Thursday, as the accused were not physically produced in court upon the expiration of their 14-day judicial custody. After hearing the case, the court granted the prosecution’s request for an extension. (With PTI inputs)
