SHILLONG: Despite the recent negative remarks by Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma, the NPP candidate for Tura seat and former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma wished his young opponent, Daryl William Cheran Momin, the very best for the contest on April 9.

The Chief Minister during a recent party meeting held here had criticized Purno for contesting again from Tura by saying that it was the ‘wish of a dying man’ and had even added that the veteran leader was not giving space for his own daughter Agatha Sangma to seek re-election.

However, the NPP leader did not want to react on the various accusations of the Chief Minister.

When asked about his rival Congress candidate from the Tura seat, Purno said, “My opponent is a first timer. He is young, educated and very bright. I wish him all the best in his political career. But this is not the time for him to enter into the fray as the situation demands something different. But since he is contesting for the first time, I am sure that he will learn something and this will be useful for his future”.

Purno also refused to comment on the ‘death wish’ remark against him made by the Chief Minister.

“Personally, I have no comments to make. But my party is taking it as a threat”, Purno added.
