Kite flying ban
In the wake of the upcoming Durand Cup which will feature aerial displays, paragliding demonstrations and a helicopter show, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has appealed the residents of Polo, Golf Links, Pynthorbah and Pynthorumkhrah areas to refrain from engaging in activities like kite flying to ensure safety of both the participants in these aerial events and the general public. The DC warned that kite flying could pose a significant hazard, potentially interfering with the flight paths of paragliders and helicopters leading to dangerous and unforeseen circumstances.
Seminar
The Research Committee, IQAC, Shillong Law College under the aegis of Arts and Culture department, will organise a local seminar on ‘Dissemination of Research Findings’ under the Chief Minister’s Research Grant Project at Shillong Law College, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on July 31. The seminar will present the outcomes of the research project ‘Balancing Tradition and Legal Responsibility: Liability of Traditional Healers in East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya’ and will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and participation from academicians, policymakers, and stakeholders.
Application
The application for allotment of MBBS/BDS under Central Pool Quota will be taken online through Google Forms, the Director of Sainik Welfare Meghalaya informed in a statement issued here. The link to access the forms are available on www.desw.gov.in and www.dgrindia.gov.in. The last date of uploading the application with supporting documents is August 15.
Unclaimed body
A person by the name of Haresha Begum, who was admitted in the Psychiatry ward of Tura Civil Hospital in December 2021, passed away recently. According to a release issued by the Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills, the body is lying unclaimed in the hospital morgue. The SP has requested anyone from the deceased family to claim the body within three days.
