SHILLONG: The Royal Wahingdoh junior team were held to draws on Monday and Tuesday in the Future Champions 2014 tournament in Gauteng, South Africa.

Wahingdoh played out a hard fought 1-1 draw against USYSA Select from the USA in the opening game on Monday before drawing 0-0 with Sunderland AFC on Tuesday.

Sushil Meitei scored for the Royals against USYSA, while Connor DeFilippis equalised for the American team.

As a result of the goalless draw against Sunderland, Wahingdoh are in second position in the four-team group with two points.

South African side Mamelodi Sundowns lead with six points from two outings.

Sunderland and USYSA have a point each from their two fixtures.

Mamelodi have thus announced themselves as the team to beat in Group D and RWFC will have their work cut out when they meet the host team on Wednesday.

The tournament is for U-17 teams from around the world.

Sixteen sides are taking part, with Wahingdoh the only representatives from India.
