Fuel your motivation with curiosity and purpose: Minister Bora addresses RGU Deeksharambh

Guwahati, July 30: The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) today inaugurated ‘Deeksharambh’, a comprehensive 21-day Student Induction Programme for the incoming batch of the academic year 2025–2026. The inaugural ceremony was graced by  Bimal Bora, Minister of Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises and Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam, as the Chief Guest, and eminent Odissi dancer and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee, Sujata Mohapatra, as the Guest of Honour.

They were joined by Dr. A. K. Pansari, Chancellor RGU; Shri A. K. Modi, Pro-Chancellor RGU; Prof. AK Buragohain, Vice Chancellor RGU, Dr. Amarjyoti Choudhury, Emeritus Professor, Dr Bhupen Hazarika Centre for Creativity RGU, apart from others in warmly welcoming the new students.

Addressing thousands of the fresh batch of students, Bimal Bora said, “As you step into this exciting academic journey, fuel your motivation with curiosity and purpose, let your values guide every decision, embrace the entrepreneurial spirit of innovation and resilience, and stand tall with independence and unwavering confidence.”

He shared moments from his own student life to inspire the gathering. Shri Bora emphasized discipline, hard work, values, and focus as the stepping stones to guide the students toward excellence. He also commended the university for providing an inclusive and resource-rich learning environment, according to a Press release.

In his address to the new batch of students, Dr AK Pansari, Chancellor of RGU urged them to develop a deep sense of sensitivity towards society—be it humans, animals, the underprivileged or the specially-abled. He encouraged the students to stay conscious of climate change and remain environmentally aware, emphasizing the importance of tree plantation.

Dr. Pansari called upon the youth to contribute towards restoring India’s lost glory, particularly in these challenging times when global peace is under threat. He also underscored the importance of holistic development for becoming responsible and compassionate individuals.

“In today’s rapidly changing world, a degree is merely a license—it is your attitude, innovation, and ability to think out of the box that will truly set you apart. Utilize every moment in the best way. The real issue is not lack of time, but lack of direction and interest—we all have the same twenty-four hours,” the Chancellor added.

Prof. (Dr.) Alak K. Buragohain, Vice Chancellor, RGU, extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to the newly admitted students, urging them to fully embrace the transformative journey of academic pursuit and personal development that lies ahead. He emphasized the critical importance of cultivating a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus culture where every individual feels valued and empowered.

Underscoring the University’s unwavering commitment to excellence in education, innovation, and holistic growth, Dr. Buragohain encouraged students to take initiative in exploring the wide array of academic programmes offered. He advised them to thoughtfully choose courses that resonate with their individual passions, strengths, and long-term aspirations, thereby laying a strong foundation for a meaningful and successful future.

Different sessions during the 21-day-long student induction programme at RGU will be participated by  Ravi Kota, Chief Secretary, Govt of Assam; Rakkam A Sangma, Education Minister Meghalaya; Prof Gobardhan Das, IISER, Bhopal; Brig, Abani Kumar Pait (Retd);  Harmeet Singh, IPS, DGP, Assam; Prof Bhagirathi Panda, ICSSR, Shillong; Ms Sonali Ghosh, IFS; Ms Jahnabi Phookan, Director, Jungle Travels India; Mr Ravi Sharma, Actor; Ms Riniki B Sarma, Chairperson and MD Pride East Entertainment Ltd; Dr Mamta Agarwal, AIU Sec Gen; Dr Purnima Sharma, MD, BCIL, apart from many other resource persons.
