GSU demands justice for rape victim

TURA: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Tikrikilla has strongly condemned the recent rape of a nine year old mentally challenged minor girl from Tikrikilla.
According to the relatives of the victim the rape incident had taken place on March 19 in the vicinity of the Tikrikilla Government ME School sometime around 4:00 and 4:30 pm. An FIR was filed at the local Police Station on March 20 after which the accused, one Monty Miah son of Lt Habib Miah of Tikrikilla was arrested and forwarded to the District Jail on the same day.
Besides condemning the incident, the union also demanded that a speedy trail of the accused be conducted and severe punishment given to the accused so as to give justice to the victim and also to discourage such crimes from being committed in the region in the future.
