SHILLONG, Aug 1: One John Bosco Shadap (35) was found dead in a suspected case of suicide at his rented house in Mawblei.
Originally from Mawpyndeng in West Jaintia Hills, Shadap had been living alone, while his wife and two sons stayed at their family home in Mawmluh, Sohra. His eldest sister, Barikynti Shadap, discovered his body around 2:30 PM on Friday after receiving a call from the house owner, who informed her that the house had been locked for the past two to three days.
Speaking to reporters, Barikynti said she found her brother in a seated position on the floor, with blood coming from his mouth. She suspects he may have died a few days prior to the discovery.
According to her, Shadap had been staying with her until Tuesday before returning to his rented home. She said there were no initial signs that something was wrong, as his phone would ring whenever she tried calling him.
She also noted that when she entered the house, she found his phone still on the charger.
Barikynti believes her brother may have been suffering from depression, although he never openly discussed any personal issues. She ruled out any foul play, stating that the family has no reason to suspect anyone, as Shadap had many friends.
The family has requested an exemption from a post-mortem examination.
