Drugs recovered from MTC bus coming from Silchar, 2 held

SHILLONG, Aug 3: Police on Sunday nabbed two individuals transporting heroin on a Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) bus bound for Shillong from Silchar.
The accused, identified as Bankyrmen Jyrwa and Reobenezer Pyngrope, both hailing from East Khasi Hills, were intercepted following a tip-off. During the search operation, authorities recovered two soap boxes containing a total of 23.24 grams of heroin.
The duo was taken into custody, and a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police officials confirmed that efforts are under way to trace the source of the narcotics, with focus on identifying the drugs supplier from Assam.
