JOWAI, Aug 8: The Pnar Student Movement (PSM) on Friday officially shut down the Jio office in Jowai town, following numerous public complaints — particularly from residents of the Jaintia Hills region — about the poor performance of the network in several areas.
According to the organisation, its members visited the office and decided to lock it after finding only two staff members present and mostly empty chairs, despite the branch being a major service point for Jowai and the surrounding areas.
The PSM stated that while the Jio network had initially functioned smoothly, it had recently begun causing significant disruptions for the public.
PSM vice president Owan S Paswet said the organisation has instructed the company not to reopen the office until it can provide the level of network service expected by the public.
