MPCC meeting in Nongstoin

 SHILLONG: President of the MPCC, Dr Friday Lyngdoh, MLA addressed a meeting of the Party at Congress Bhavan, New Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills District on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by the Party functionaries of the West Khasi Hills District Congress Committee, office bearers of all the 7 Block Congress Committees of the District, representatives of frontal wings and a host of local leaders, besides hundreds of Congress Party workers and supporters.

The MPCC president met personally with Party workers of the District and had discussions with them, the very purpose due to which this meeting was organized. In his address, Friday Lyngdoh exhorted them to be active participants in the implementation of government schemes and to facilitate in strengthening the delivery system and wheels of development and growth.

He also stated that the freedom of India does not end with political freedom alone but with the freedom from hunger, poverty and illiteracy.

The difference between the Congress Party from other parties is that it strives to remove these through revolutionary initiatives and developmental schemes. There was also a lively discussion and participation on ways and means to strengthen the Party and to be prepared for the 2013 elections.

Mr S S Thongni, church elder of the area, also led a solemn prayer for the speedy recovery of AICC President, Sonia Gandhi, who had undergone an operation in the United States, so that she may very soon regain her good health.
