SHILLONG, Aug 14: A partnership was struck between the Women’s Cell as well as Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Shillong Law College and the Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) to advance gender justice and legal awareness.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday at the Office of the Women’s Commission.
The collaboration will focus on legal education, research, outreach, and advocacy on women’s rights and gender equality. Planned initiatives include capacity-building programmes, workshops, legal aid clinics, and awareness drives for students, legal professionals, and the public.
MSCW Chairperson Iamonlang M Syiem, Shillong Law College Principal Dr Sharif Uddin, IQAC Coordinator Dr Daiahunlin Mawlong, Women’s Cell Convener Dr Arpita Singh, and MSCW Co-opted Member Dr Thywill Susngi signed the MoU in the presence of Commission members, students, and invited guests.
The partnership is set to open avenues for student internships, research on women’s issues, and field-based community engagement, bridging the gap between legal theory and practice.
