ED raids AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj, others
NEW DELHI, Aug 26: The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday searched the premises of former minister Saurabh Bharadwaj and others as part of a money laundering probe linked to an alleged scam in health infrastructure projects during the previous AAP government in Delhi, official sources said.At least 13 locations, including those of some private contractors and commercial real estate developers, in the National Capital Region are being searched.The ED investigation against Bharadwaj (45), stems from an FIR registered by Delhi’s Anti-Corruption Branch.The ACB booked Bharadwaj, and ex-health minister Satyendar Jain, private contractors and unknown government officials for alleged corruption in health infrastructure projects by the AAP government. Man ends life after wife refuses to cook egg curry
DHAMTARI, Aug 26 : A 40-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after his wife refused to cook egg curry in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district.As per the preliminary information, Tikuram Sen, the deceased, brought home eggs on Monday evening and asked his wife to cook curry. She refused, saying it was the day of ‘Karu Bhaat’ festival and she was going to observe a fast the next day, the official said.‘Karu Bhaat’ (a `bitter meal’ which includes a dish of bitter gourd) is eaten the day before the Teej festival, observed by married women in Chhattisgarh. Apparently upset, Sen left the house and allegedly hanged himself from a nearby tree.(PTI)
Tribal girl gang-raped in Jharkhand, boyfriend assaulted
DUMKA, Aug 26: A 17-year-old tribal girl was allegedly gang-raped in Jharkhand’s Dumka district by four to five men who also assaulted her boyfriend, police said on Tuesday.According to the police, The girl, belonging to a particularly vulnerable tribal group (PVTG), had come on a coal-laden truck along with the cleaner of the vehicle with whom she was having an affair. They asked the driver to unload the coal at Dumka and return, and they would board the truck again. While they were walking along the road, they were accosted by four-five youths.These youths beat up the boyfriend and raped the girl, he added.In the morning, the girl came to the police station along with her boyfriend and narrated the incident.
