NONGPOH, Aug 27: A spell of heavy rainfall on Wednesday evening led to severe waterlogging along several stretches of the National Highway from Byrnihat up to Khanapara, causing major inconvenience to commuters.
According to visuals received, floodwaters inundated the approach road from the highway towards Killing, as well as several areas in Khanapara and Byrnihat.
The intensity of the downpour was reported to be much heavier than in recent spells, leading to higher levels of water accumulation.
At Jorabat bridge, floodwaters nearly submerged four-wheeler vehicles, forcing drivers and passengers to wade through the water in search of safer ground. The situation resulted in severe traffic disruption and hardship for the public travelling along the route.
