Behdeinkhlam celebration of Sein Raij Mukhla culminates

JOWAI, Aug 31: Behdeinkhlam festival of Seiñ Raij Mukhla concluded on Sunday after several days of rituals and celebrations. The festival culminated at the Aitnar Pond in Mukhla, marked by vibrant processions and cultural splendor.
The day began with the symbolic act of casting away the plague, accompanied by traditional dances and offerings by elders. Later, colorful structures and symbolic representations were gathered at Slotmasi Ground, followed by the ceremonial immersion of 14 elaborately decorated Rot (ceremonial structures) in the Wah Biar (Aitnar Pond).
Members of the Seiñ Raij Mukhla community brought their Rot to the pond, each carrying unique messages and themes. The community expressed hope that the successful completion of the rituals would usher in peace, prosperity, and development in all aspects of life.
The concluding day witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla, who also led the programme, social worker Sunil V Deodhar, Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills, Dolloi of Elaka Jowai, Puramon Kynjing, members of the JHADC, elders of the Raij, and many others. Minister of State, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Dr Sukanta Majumdar, also conveyed his blessings virtually.
On this occasion, a memorial stone was inaugurated to commemorate the cultural infrastructure of the six Seiñ Raij from both East and West Jaintia Hills districts.
