SHILLONG, Sep 2: The East Khasi Hills police on Tuesday clarified that investigations have conclusively established that the reported syringe attack on a minor girl at Jaiaw did not occur in the manner as stated in the FIR.
Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem, in a statement, said that the Lumdiengjri Police Station on August 18 had received information that a schoolgirl was allegedly injected with a syringe on her right shoulder by two unidentified bike-borne persons wearing helmets near the Bible Society of India, Jaiaw.
Following this, Lumdiengjri PS Case No. 108(08)2025 under Sections 123/125 of the BNS was registered.
A detailed investigation was then conducted, during which all relevant evidence was examined and witness statements were recorded before the court.
“In compliance with legal procedure, a final report in the matter will be submitted before the competent Court,” the SP stated.
Earlier, DGP Idashisha Nongrang had also indicated that preliminary findings pointed to circumstances different from what had been initially reported.
“We have investigated the circumstances under which the incident was said to have occurred, and our inquiry suggests something else,” Nongrang had remarked.
