SHILLONG: Police on Friday arrested three ANVC-B cadres from a city hotel along with two sex workers.
Following an intelligence input that due to the ongoing operation in Garo Hills several cadres of different militant outfits were taking refuge in Shillong , police beefed up surveillance in hotels and lodges of the city.
Accordingly a raid was conducted by SWAT personnel at Grace Hotel in Police Bazar and a senior cadre of ANVC (B) Apsal M Sangma alias Dokrak was arrested from there.
Police seized two mobile phones and Rs.76,000 in cash from his possession, East Khasi Hills police chief M Kharkrang said.
His two other accomplices — James Momin, and Isac Marak – were also arrested and a mobile phone and Rs, 16,760 in cash were also seized from them.
A Maruti car having two different registration number plates (ML07-A-5331-in front and AS-01-6648- in back) was seized from outside the hotel.
“During the raid two sex workers were also found inside their rooms,” Kharkrang said.
Apsal M.Sangma was suspected to be involved in the twin shooting in Williamnagar town recently.
