WHITE INK CASE

By Our Reporter

SHILLONG, Sep 6: Health and Family Welfare Minister M. Ampareen Lyngdoh stated that she will take necessary action if any moves the Supreme Court against her in the “white ink” case.
On Thursday, the High Court of Meghalaya quashed the case against her and two others. However, the Central Bureau of Investigation indicated it could challenge the verdict in the apex court.
Lyngdoh said she does not want to discuss the case after the high court’s order clearing her name from the infamous case that was dubbed the education scam.
“Who cares about what X is going to do? Does only X have the right, and do you think I, the victim, will sit in the corner, cry, and become emotional?” a visibly annoyed Lyngdoh told journalists on Saturday, when she was asked about CBI contemplating moving the apex court on the matter.
Asserting her right to feel relieved after years of carrying the weight of the accusation, she said: “At least, give me the joy of having been discharged from the criminal charges, which was so painful.”
Along with Lyngdoh, the high court had quashed all charges against two retired government officials – J.D. Sangma and Ameka Lyngdoh.
Amid a public discourse about whether the CBI would challenge the high court’s verdict in the Supreme Court, sources in the federal investigative agency said they would first analyse the court order.
Meanwhile, the Hynniewtrep Youth Council demanded answers from the state government on the fate of the 246 candidates whose appointments were cancelled on grounds of illegal recruitment.
