Man kills mother after she refuses to give money for alcohol

Kanpur (UP) Sep 7: A man was arrested for allegedly killing his 80-year-old mother after she refused to give him money to buy liquor in Kasigawan village, Kanpur district, the police said on Sunday. The accused, identified as Rajaram (35), attacked his mother, Rajeshwari (80), following an argument over her refusal to give him Rs 40 to buy liquor, Assistant CP (Panki) Shikhar said. Rajeshwari, who had locked herself in a room to avoid confrontation, was dragged out by her son after he broke open the door with bricks and allegedly hit her on the head, leading to her death on the spot, Shikhar added. 14-yr-old boy drowns while fishing in Yamuna

New Delhi, Sep 6: A 14-year-old boy drowned in floodwater while fishing with his friends near Shastri Park in northeast Delhi, an official said on Saturday. According to police, the boy from the Shastri Park area, had gone to the Yamuna bank alongwith his friends. While fishing, he accidentally slipped into the water and was swept away by the current. A call regarding the incident was received at Shastri Park police station on Friday evening, after which a team rushed to the spot along with personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Unlabelled 340 kg meat seized in J&K

Srinagar, Sep 7: The authorities on Sunday seized 340 kg of unlabelled meat being carried in an auto-rickshaw in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar city. Officials said here that kilos of unlabelled meat had arrived at the Air Cargo terminal in Srinagar. “The seizure of 340 kgs of unlabelled meat was made after the enforcement team of the deputy commissioner, state sales tax department, shared the information. Acting swiftly on the information, officials of the food safety department and police, acting in coordination, seized the consignment outside the Air Cargo terminal in Srinagar,” the officials said, adding that the seized meat was found without any mandatory label or declaration,” officials said.
