Women’s football league kicks off in Jowai

Jowai, Sep 9: The Saipung Block Sports Association (SBSA) kicked off the inaugural edition of the Women’s League Football Tournament 2025 on Monday, marking a new chapter in promoting women’s football in the region.
A total of six teams are competing in the maiden tournament.
The opening fixture saw Lumtong United take on Bamkho Sngi United in a tightly contested encounter that ended in a goalless draw. Later in the afternoon, Daistong United edged past United Biate FC 1-0, courtesy of a decisive strike from Happily Lyngdoh in the 39th minute.
The tournament is expected to continue over the coming days, promising exciting matches and providing a platform for local women footballers to showcase their talent, while fostering greater interest and participation in the sport across the region.
