Decomposed body of missing Ri-Bhoi man recovered

NONGPOH, Sep 10: The decomposed body of a man from Ummar village under Patharkhmah area, who had been missing for nearly three months, was recovered from a forest near the 6th Meghalaya Police Battalion at Umran.
According to sources, skeletal remains were first discovered by villagers on Monday and later reported to village leaders and police. The deceased was identified as Carlus Tron, based on the clothes he was last seen wearing.
Police from Umsning Police Station took custody of the remains to initiate further investigation. Family members, who arrived at Umsning Police Station on Wednesday, confirmed the identity of the deceased through his clothing.
After completing all necessary legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family for the last rites.
It may be recalled that Tron went missing on June 11 this year after he reportedly stepped out of a vehicle along National Highway 6 at Umran.
He was on his way home after getting his pregnant wife admitted to Ganesh Das Hospital in Shillong.
