SHILLONG, Sep 12: The court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Sohra Sub-Division, has fixed September 17 for hearing the bail application of Sonam, the prime accused in the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi.
Additional Public Prosecutor Tushar Chandra informed that the bail application was filed on Friday but the prosecution sought time to examine the case records.
“We apprised the court that we could not go through the records since the application was filed in Sohra. The court has now fixed the hearing on September 17,” Chandra said.
Sonam’s lawyers have based their plea on alleged flaws in the charge sheet filed by East Khasi Hills Police claiming it was incomplete.
Last week, police filed a 790-page charge sheet against Sonam, her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha, and three hired assailants — Vishal Singh Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi.
