TURA, Sep 15: Curtain came down on a three-day ‘Patrol Leaders Training Camp’, which organised by the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides, South West Garo Hills, at Mothers’ Union School, Ampati, recently.
The camp was aimed at equipping young Scouts and Guides with leadership skills, along with a strong sense of community and responsibility.
A total of 248 participants attended the programme, including 120 Guides, 97 Scouts, 18 Rovers, four Rangers and nine staff members, representing schools across the district.
A special highlight of the camp was a session on ‘Awareness of Drug Abuse and Early Child Pregnancy’, conducted on the second day by Dr. Lydia Sangma, Sub-Divisional Medical & Health Officer (SDMHO), Ampati.
Throughout the training, participants engaged in singing, dancing, rope knotting, rescue drills and other skill-building activities centred on Scouting and Guiding goals. These exercises were designed to foster teamwork, leadership, discipline and a deeper understanding of societal roles.
