CM allocates portfolios to Meghalaya ministers after reshuffle

Shillong, Sept 17: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday distributed portfolios to the 11 Cabinet ministers in the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) 2.0 government after effecting a reshuffle on Tuesday by inducting eight ministers including seven new faces.
According to the official notification, Chief Minister will retain Cabinet Affairs, the Finance Department, and all portfolios not specifically allotted to other ministers.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has been entrusted with key departments, including Home (Police), Public Works (Roads and Buildings), District Council Affairs, and Parliamentary Affairs.
Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, will oversee the Urban Affairs, Transport, Commerce and Industries, and Prisons and Correctional Services departments.
NPP leader Marcuise N. Marak continues to hold charge of Public Health Engineering, Housing, and Soil and Water Conservation. Senior NPP legislator Timothy D. Shira has been given Tourism, Agriculture, and Fisheries.
Newly inducted minister Wailadmiki Shylla has been allotted the Health and Family Welfare, Sports and Youth Affairs, and Home (Passport) departments.
From Ri Bhoi, NPP’s Sosthenes Sohtun has been assigned Community and Rural Development, Secretariat Administration, and General Administration.
Among the UDP ministers, Metbah Lyngdoh will handle Power, Water Resources, Taxation, and Textiles, while Lahkmen Rymbui has been given Education, Revenue and Disaster Management, Information and Public Relations, and Law.
Another NPP minister, Brening A. Sangma, has been entrusted with Border Area Development, Excise, and Home (Civil Defence and Home Guards).
BJP’s Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai will look after Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Arts and Culture, Printing and Stationery, and Legal Metrology.
Meanwhile, HSPDP’s Methodius Dkhar has been allotted Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Labour Employment and Skill, and Registration and Stamps.
