Mortal remains of Zubeen Garg to be kept in Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati for fans to pay tributes

Guwahati, Sept 19: Assam government has decided to keep the mortal remains on singer Zubeen Garg in Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati tomorrow to facilitate millions of his fans to pay the last respect to the cultural icon. The mortal remains will be flown in from Singapore and likely to reach here in the afternoon on Saturday.
This decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tonight. Following the meeting the Chief Minister accompanied by his wife Riniki Bhuyan Sharma and Assam’s Cultural Minister Bimal Borah went to call on the bereaved family of Zubeen Garg at their Kahilipara residence here to convey the decision of the government and take the family’s consent.
Meanwhile, Assam Education Department has postponed half-yearly examinations scheduled for tomorrow in schools across the state. The Chambers of Commerce, Assam has decided to keep all the business establishments across the state closed on September 20 and 21 in respect of the departed singer.
