Tura resident among injured in Manipur ambush

SHILLONG, Sep 19: A resident of Tura was among those injured after militants ambushed a convoy in Bishnupur district of Manipur on Friday. At least two Assam Rifles personnel were killed and several others injured in the incident.
The attack reportedly occurred around 5:50 pm at Sabal Leikai Nambol, under the jurisdiction of Nambol police station, targeting a convoy traveling from Imphal.
LP Sangma, 46, son of L. Waitstick S. Momin, from Tura, who serves as an Assam Rifles jawan, was one of the injured persons who were rushed to nearby hospitals, including RIMS, for immediate treatment.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation. Authorities have yet to confirm the exact details of the incident and the total number of injured persons.
